We started with a simple question: why does the healthy snack always taste like the boring snack? Makosee is our answer — roasted, never fried makhana, dressed in flavours that finally taste like they belong on your shelf.
Makhana — or fox nut — has fed Indian families for centuries. Grown in the wetlands of Bihar, hand-harvested before sunrise, popped over slow fire. It's almost the perfect snack: high protein, low fat, gluten-free, ridiculously crunchy.
Almost. Because for too long, makhana sat between two extremes: bland health-food jars or aggressively over-flavoured tin cans. We saw room for a third path.
So we partnered with farmers in Katihar, built recipes with chefs, and obsessed over the seasoning. The result: six flavours that finally do justice to what's inside the pack.
Direct from farmer collectives in Katihar, Darbhanga and Madhubani.
Graded by size and crunch. Only top-grade seeds make it into Makosee packs.
Slow-toasted in small batches. Never deep-fried, never shortcut.
Hand-tossed with our spice blends, made fresh each week.
“We didn't want to build just another snack brand. We wanted to prove that something genuinely good for you could still be the thing you reach for at 10pm because you actually want it — not because you're supposed to.”
